Judge Judy

Matthew D'Ancona has some excellent advice for DD this morning:

'If I were Mr Davis, I would not be pinning my hopes of political recovery on parliamentary combat or platform speeches. I would be heading for the GMTV sofa, This Morning and The Wright Stuff. To improve his chances, Mr Davis does not need Punch and Judy. He needs Richard and Judy.'

Funnily enough, this is also Mrs T's advice. After last week's mauling by the political media, Davis needs to appeal over their heads to the real people out here. He's always been much better on the telly than on the platform, as shown for example on Sunday's Politics Show or his interview on C4 News last night. It's a strength he must exploit to the full.

PS Interesting to see that D'Ancona agrees with us about how the Cameroonian media span DD's "charlatans" remarks into an attack on DC: 'Anyone who has watched the full interview will see that his attack on "charlatanry" and "image politics" was aimed at Tony Blair, not Mr Cameron.' You can't take anything away from DC's spinmeisters- they're doing a great job. But as we've said before, out here, we all need to be fully aware of what's going on.
