The clocking has elicited various comments, from:
'David Davis is a Thatcherite at heart and he would simply take us back to the Thatcherism of yesteryear not forward to the new policies and solutions we need for a new century'
'there is absolutely nothing wrong with Thatcherism, and another decade of Thatcherism wouldn't do Britain any harm - quite the contrary!'
CLN reckons we are the first partisan blog of the campaign, but in comments Moi identifies Tories For Conservatism. They started on 10 May, one day before us. Which would make them first.
Actually, I'm not sure TFC really counts as a partisan blog. Pancroft is mainly concerned about the threat from those young "modernisers".
Still, you can't help admiring the cut of his jib:
'I have started this blog to express my displeasure that my party's leader, the Rt. Hon. Michael Howard QC MP, seems intent on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory by over-promoting bruscetta-eating public school types with fluff between their ears rather than stick with battle-hardened real Tories like David Davis and Liam Fox.
This blog is also meant to bring the mainstream of the Tory party that it is under attack from Blairites like Cameron, Osbourne and the insufferable Bercow and Yeo, together and to stress that if our Thatcherite heritage is to remain then we can not split our support.
Whether your cup of tea is Davis, Fox or Redwood, the Tory Right and centre must remember that unity pays. By aping the empty platitudes of Blairism we will go into meltdown as this present govt. does- and in short order. The only people who would benefit would be the Lib dems.'
Go Pancroft, and you definitely join our links.
